Give the definition for 'work' and give 3 examples.
Work is done whenever a force moves an object. Energy is transferred to the object. e.g. lifting weights, climbing stairs, pushing a shopping trolley.
1 of 8
What is the unit for energy and work?
Joules (J)
2 of 8
Work done = ?
force x distance
3 of 8
Describe power and state its units.
Power is a measure of how quickly work is done. It is measured in Watts (W)
4 of 8
What two factors affect fuel consumption ?
power and engine size
5 of 8
What is the equation for WEIGHT?
Weight = mass x gravitational field strength (W = mg)
6 of 8
power = ? (x2)
work done / time OR power = speed x time
7 of 8
Give 2 problems with high fuel consumption.
Fuel is expensive, the products of burning fuels pollute the environment. Car exhaust gases are harmful and the production and transport of fuels create many hazards.
