Unit 4 - Biology - Muscles

?
Describe how actin and myosin filaments in a myofibril work together to cause muscle contraction.
The myosin heads attach themselves to the actin binding sites. The myosin pulls the actin towards the centre of the sarcomere. Changes shape.
1 of 5
Explain how Dantrolene (medication used for MS) prevents muscle spasms.
Calcium blocks binding sites on actin filaments, no calcium, tropomyosin remains unchanged. Myosin heads cannot bind to actin.
