What is infrared radiation?
Infrared radiation is heat energy travelling through the air as waves. No particles are involved.
1 of 7
What can infrared travel as?
Infrared travels through the air as waves through a vacuum. No medium is required.
2 of 7
What do all objects do? What effects this?
all objects emit infrared radiation. the hotter the object the more infrared radiation it emits.
3 of 7
what surfaces are the best emitters of radiation?
Dull, black surfaces are the best emitters and absorbers of radiation.
4 of 7
what surfaces are good reflecters of radiation?
shiny silver surfaces are the best at reflecting radiation but not good at absorbing it.
5 of 7
Why are radiators painted black?
Black is a good emitter of radiation so it gets rid of the heat. This means the heat transfers from the radiator more quickly.
6 of 7
What are the three states of matter?
Solids, liquids and gases
