Transport of water in the xylem

?
Root hair cell
The root hair cell has a large surface area and reduces the diffusion distance of minerals and water. This makes it easier for water to be transported into plants. Lots of mitochondria, to provide ATP for active transport for mineral to enter the pl
1 of 5
Osmosis
Osmosis is the net transport of water form a high concentration to a low concentration. This is how water enters the root hair cell.
2 of 5
Active Transport
Active Transport is the net movement from a high concentration to an even high concentration (this goes against the gradient) and uses energy. This is how mineral ions are transported from the soil into the plant.
3 of 5
Stomata (how this affects the movement of water)
Stomata affect the transport of water as they allow intake of Co2 but also allow evaporated water to escape this causes a lower gradient of water in the leaves this causes water to be transported their by tension.

Factors affecting transpiration
Light intensity, temperature, humidity and air movement
