The nature of waves

?
What do we use waves for?
We use waves to transfer energy and information. The direction of travel of the wabve is the idirection in which the wave transfers energy.
1 of 6
What are the two types of wave?
Transverse and Longitudinal.
2 of 6
What is a transverse wave?
A transverse wave is a wave in which the vibrations are perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer
3 of 6
What is a longitudinal wave?
A longitudinal wave is a wave in which the vibrations are parallel to the direction of energy transfer
4 of 6
What are longitudinal waves made of?
Longitudinal Waves are made of compressions (squeezed together) and rarefractions (stretched apart)

Examples of mechanical waves?
Waves on springs,
