Assembly (met once a year), Council (met regularly), Secretariat (handled paperwork), Court of International Justice, and individual committees (carried out humanitarian work)

Set up by the Treaty which was hated, their aims were too ambitious, Germany, USA and Russia weren't members, they had no army, decisions had to be unanimous and their organisation was slow and inefficient

Set up by the Treaty (all nations had signed), had 58 nation members by the 1930's and could apply trade sanctions and arbitration

Settled a dispute between Sweden and Finland, the League decided islands should belong to Finland and both countries were satisfied

Poland invaded Vilna, the League ordered Poland to withdraw and Poland refused

Italy invaded Corfu, Mussolini ignored the League's orders to pull out, instead Greece was made to pay Italy

Japan conquered Manchuria, it took the League a year to send a commission (the Lytton Report), Japan left the League and they did nothing

Italy invaded Abyssinia, League banned arms sales and offered part of Abyssinia to Italy, Italy invaded anyway, GB and France tried to make a secret pact to give Abyssinia to Italy

What happened in the Rhineland (1936)?
Hitler ordered troops to invade, France took no action, the army met no opposition and were welcomed, GB said Hitler was reclaiming what was his and the League condemned this but took no action

What happened in the Sudetan Crisis (1938)?
Germans bordering Sudetenland demanded a union with Germany, Czechs refused so Hitler threatened war, GB and France gave Czechoslovakia to Hitler during the Munich agreement
