What does the first letter of air mass classification signify and what are the types?
it signifies moisture of an air mass e.g. continental (dry) and maritime (moist)

it signifies the temperature of an air mass whch is either: Arctic (frigid), Polar (coold/cold) and tropical (warm/hot)

how does an occluded front form?
it forms due to dynamic cooling fromm ascent near the surface, whcih leads to the cold front catching up to the warm front - the surface low moves in the cold

how can you identify an occluded front on a synoptic map?
they originate from a surface low, and are shown as bulges,ridges on isothers/thickness. they are also an area wher elayer clouds form.

what do dry lines separate and where do they usuall form?
dry lines separate mT (warm most air to the east) and cT air (warm dry air to the west) that are found typically on the great plains which can trigger thunderstorms.

wind in the cold air blows toward the front
