What is specific heat capacity?
Specific heat capacity tells you how much energy an object can store.
1 of 15
What is specific latent heat?
Specific latent heat is the energy needed to change state.
2 of 15
what is conduction?
Conduction mainly occurs in solids. Conduction of heat is the process where vibrating particals pass on extra kentic energy to neighboring particals.
3 of 15
what is convection?
Convection mostly occurs in liquid or gasses. Convection occurs when the more particals move from the hotter region to the cooler region- and take their heat energy with them.
4 of 15
What characteristics make the best heat radiation absorbers?
Matte black surfaces are the best absorbers of heat radiation.
5 of 15
What is the amplitude of a wave.
The amplitude of a wave is the displacement from the rest position to the peak/crest.
6 of 15
What is the wave length?
The wave length is the length of a full cycle of a wave e.g. crest to crest.
7 of 15
What is the frequency?
The frequency is the number of complete cycles or oscillations passing a certain point per second.
8 of 15
What do the flat sections on a temp/time graph mean?
This means that the substance id changing state.
9 of 15
what is payback time?
cost of insulation/annual saving
10 of 15
What is the order of the EM waves.
Radio-micro-infra-visible light-ultra violet-x rays-gamma
11 of 15
All waves can be?
Reflected, refracted and diffracted.
12 of 15
What is the difference between analogue and digital?
Analogue waves var. Digital waves are just on and off. With digital the signal remains high quality and you van send off several signals at the same time.
13 of 15
How do optical fibers work?.
They use light or infra red waves. They work because of total internal reflection.
14 of 15
What are the 3 seismic waves?
L waves P waves S waves.
