Serfdom
A serf was a labourer who was owned by a noble. 50% of serfs were privately owned. The rest were owned by the state.

Emancipation
Reform in 1861. Effectively abolished serfdom in Russia and peasants had chance to get their own land.

Aristocracy
Highest class in Russia. Kept the best land for themselves. More than 50% of peasants had land that was too small for grain surplus.

Make political changes such as Education Reform, Military Reform, Emancipation etc.

Populists had socialist ideas and wanted the Tsar OUT! Stirred up anger and had many assassination attempts.
