Resipiration

?
Coenzyme
A molecule that aids the function of an enzyme. They work by transferring a chemical group from one molecule to another.
1 of 14
NAD
A type of coenzyme involved in respiration. It transfers hydrogen from one molecule to another.
2 of 14
Coenzyme A
A type of coenzyme involved in respiration. It transfers acetate from one molecule to another.
3 of 14
FAD
A type of co enzyme inolved in respiration. It transfers hydrogen from one molecule to another.
4 of 14
Gycolyisis
The first stage of aerobic respiration - here glucose is converted to pyruvate.
5 of 14
Link reaction
The second of aerobic respiration where pyruvate us converted into acetyl coenzyme A
6 of 14
Decarboxylated
The removal of carbon dioxide from a molecule. This occurs in the link reaction.
7 of 14
Krebs cycle
The third stage of aerobic respiration. It is a series of oxidation-reduction reactions that produced reduced coenzymes and ATP.
8 of 14
Dehydrogenation
The removal of hydrogen from a molecule. This occurs in the krebs cycle.
9 of 14
Substrate-level phosphorylation
When a phosphate group is directly transferred from one molecule to another. This occurs in the krebs cycle.
10 of 14
Oxidative phosphorylaton
The final stage of aerobic respiration. Energy carried by electrons, from reduced coenzymes, is used to make ATP
11 of 14
Electron transport chain
A chain of protons through which excited electrons flow.
12 of 14
Oxygen
Final electron acceptor in the electron transport chain.
13 of 14
Chemiosmosis
The process where the movement of protons across a membrane genrates ATP. This occurse during oxidative phosphorylation in the final stage of aerobic respiration.
