Advantages and disadvanatges of structured interviews
Advantages- can explain if they don't understand the question. Disadvantages- interviewer bias, time consuming.

Advantages- can get a lot more detail if needed-can probe. Disadvantages- interviewer bias, time consuming.

Group interviewer
Advantages- can get wide range of view, may feel more comfortable in a group setting. Disadvanatges-interviewees may influence each other- lie,etc. Cannot promise confidentiality.

Advantages of particpant observation
Can study the group in its natural setting, can see things from the group's perpsective, religious cults, football hooligans maybe reluctant to be interviewed.

Disadvantages of particpant observation
May be difficult to gainn entry to the group, difficult to take notes as it is happening.

Non particpant observation
Advantages- less liekly to be drawn into the group's activities. Disadvantages-more difficult to see things from the group's perspective

Advantages- quicky and easy to answer. Disadvantages-can't get a lot of detail.

What is random sampling?
Small group taken from a sampling frame at random- lottery, names out of a hat

Advantages-Everyone has an equal chance of being chosen Disadvantages-may not be representative of the population.

What is Stratified sampling?
Your sample mirrors the population- if 40% of the population are male, 40% of the sample is male.

Advantages-reprsentative of population. Disadvantages-more time consuming

Systemic sampling- every nth person is chosen
Advantages- everyone has an equal chance of being chosen. Disadvantages- may not be representative of the population.
