what is refraction
refraction is when waves change dirrection as they enter a different medium
1 of 12
what causes refraction
the change in density from one medium to the other which changes the speed of the wave
2 of 12
when waves slow down they bend towards what
The normal
3 of 12
what happerns if a wave hits a boundry at 90 degrees i.e. along the normal
it will not change dirrection but it will slow down
4 of 12
What happerns when light hits a different medium e.g. plastic or glass
some of the light will pas through to the new medium but some will be reflected
5 of 12
For question 5's answer how much is relfected all depends on what
Angle of incidence
6 of 12
what dose every transparent matirial have
A refractive index
7 of 12
Refractive indexof a medium is the ratio of what
Speed of light in a vacuum to speed of light in that medium
8 of 12
what is the refractive index equation
N=sin I/sin R
9 of 12
in the refractive index equation what is I
Angle of incidence
10 of 12
in the refractive index equation what is N
