GOD IS
IMMANENCE: God is involved in his creation, active in the world; it shows a sign of God's power and love for us; Jesus was an example of God's immanence showing that God was active in the world.

GOD IS
TRANSCENDENCE: God is beyond this world and its limits; God is not controlled by time and so is eternal; God is not limited by space and has no physical qualities.

REVELATION: God makes himself known to people in different ways either directly or indirectly; revelations can impact an individual personally and change their life; they can be indirect through nature, events and people.

TAWHID: Arabic term meaning one God- Allah; God is absolute and cannot be split up in any way; Allah is eternal and the creator of the universe.

BUDDHISM
REINCARNATION: The belief that after death, souls are reborn into a new body; actions in life (karma) determine the consequences of the next life; the Buddha taught that each person has a soul that moves from one life to another.

IMPERMANENCE: Nothing lasts forever, suffering is only temporary; everything changes and dies, the Buddha taught that life cannot completely satisfy us; there is no permanent self, the body grows and the mind develops.

NIRVANA: A state of perfect peace where greed, hatred and ignorance are overcome; Buddhists can only reach nirvana when thy have been enlightened; when achieving nirvana a person can live in contentment.

KARMA: The idea that actions have consequences; karma impacts reincarnation; it is not a law but a simple matter of cause and effect.

HOLY WEEK
SALVATION: Deliverance from sin and its consequences; Jesus compared being saved to the kingdom of heaven; God can save us and did this through Jesus.

CRUCIFIXION:Jesus was arrested and sentenced to death by crucifixion; made to carry his cross to Golgotha; crucified for claiming to be the king of the Jews.

ASCENSION: Teaching that the resurrected Jesus was taken up to heaven; the book of acts states that Jesus ascended into the clouds; the event happened 40 days after the resurrection.

ATONEMENT: The forgiving of sin, particularly through Christ's death; the sins of humanity can be saved because of Jesus' atonement; Jesus' atonement means everyone can be resurrected and enter heaven if they follow the gospels.

BUS BOYCOTT: A mass protest designed to enable equality on public transport for African American; took place in Montgomery, Alabama between 1955- 1956; the bus boycott lasted for 381 days.

CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT: A movement to secure equality for African Americans; MLK was a pioneer and helped make great changes; pacifism was used as a tool to bring about change.

MARTIN LUTHER KING
FREEDOM SIT- INS: In 1960 sit-ins were used in a form of protest in cafes and lunch counters; it was during these sit-ins that the song "we shall overcome" became popular; many people was injured in the process and arrested.

FREEDOM MARCHES: MLK led a march in Selma calling for black people to have te right to vote; protstrs were met with resistance several times, many were injured; in August 1955 the Voting Rights Act gave black people the right to vote.
