legs are extended and flexed at the knee so plantar aspect of the foot is in contact with the IR

distal end of the phalanges, some of proximal talus, navicular bone and lateral soft tissue borders

from the dorsal to plantar aspect of the foot

How does the beam travel in a DP oblique projection?
beam travels dorsal to plantar aspect of foot with foot being at an angle where the great toe is placed on the image receptor (15-20 degrees)

What is the checklist for image evaluation of a foot xray?
correct anatomical markers, patient details, whole foot, can see bone matrix, movement or unsharpness, pathology?

What is the centre point for an ankle xray?
midway between malleoli and show the distal tib/fib

How should the patient be positioned for an AP ankle xray?
heel on IR with leg fully extended medially rotating the ankle which is slightly dorsi flexed

Why use a lateral projection of an ankle xray?
to superimpose the malleoli and to evaluate fractures and dislocations further

How should you position the patient to take a lateral ankle xray?
place a 15 degree pad under lateral side of foot and under the knee for support

base of 5th metatarsal and calcaneum and lateral soft tissue borders
