What do proteins do in the body?
They act as structural components, Hormones, Antibodies, Catalysts
2 of 8
What is a catalyst?
A substance which speeds up a chemical reaction. At the end of the reaction the catalyst remains chemically unchanged.
3 of 8
What controls chemical reaction rates in the body?
Enzymes
4 of 8
What are enzymes?
A protein molecule that acts as a biological catalyst
5 of 8
What is an active site?
The site on a enzyme where the reactants bind
6 of 8
What are enzymes involved in?
Building Large molecules from lots of smaller one, Changing one molecule into another, Breaking down large molecules into smaller ones
