How is a sperm specialised to its function?
Has mitochondria so there is lots of energy to get to the egg. Has a tail to swim through. Is a haploid so it can join with the egg to create a normal cell chromosomal amount.
1 of 14
How is a egg cell specialised to its function?
Has nutrients and is a haploid so when it combines with the sperm it can create a human about of chromosomes.
2 of 14
How is a ciliated epithelial cell specialised?
Has tiny hair-like structures so it can clean and push the substances in the direction along the surface of the tissue.
3 of 14
How is a red blood cell specialised?
Large surface area so that it can carry as much oxygen or carbon dioxide. No nucleus so it has a larger surface area.
4 of 14
How can be convert mm into nanometers?
x 1000000
5 of 14
What is the magnification equation?
image ➗(actual x magnification)
6 of 14
What is a catalyst?
Something that speeds up the reaction.
7 of 14
How do we calculate rate of reaction?
1000 ➗time
8 of 14
What is diffusion?
High to a low concentration
9 of 14
What is osmosis?
low to high concentration
10 of 14
What is active transport?
Particles move across membrane using energy from respiration.
11 of 14
What happened to the potato chip in pure water?
The mass increased as the water moved into the chip.
12 of 14
Why do we measure percentage change of mass in the potato chip experiment?
So that it is more valid to qualify and compare. They mightn't have all began at the same mass. Ensure it is fair while comparison.
13 of 14
How do we work out the percentage change in the chip?
(end mass - beginning mass) ➗beginning mass. X 100
