Allele
An allele is a version of a gene
1 of 8
Locus
The locus is the position of a specific gene on a chromosome
2 of 8
Phenotype
The phenotype is the observable characteristics of an organism
3 of 8
Genotype
Genotype describes the particular alleles present on a chromosome for a specific trait/characteristic
4 of 8
Dominant
Dominant describes a characteristic which will be displayed in the phenotype when only one allele is present
5 of 8
Codominant
Codominant describes a characteristic where both alleles contribute to the phenotype
6 of 8
Linkage
Different alleles for different characteristics which are present at different loci on the same chromosomes are linked
7 of 8
Crossing Over
Crossing Over occurs when non-sister chromatids exchange genetic information in Prophase I of meiosis
