Now...1) Pre-marital sex = accepted. 2) Average marrying age has increased. 3) Divorce is acceptable. 4) Cohabitation. 5) Homosexuality.

1) Society - more accepting of personal choice. 2) Church - influence decline. 3) Laws - Have allowed it. 4) Media - promoted.

Catholic Attitudes to Sex Outside Marriage:
1) Sex is for procreation in marriage. 2) Adultery breaks vows and the decalogue. 3) Bible says it is sinful and promiscuity. 4) CCC - doesn't tolerate trial marriage.

CofE attitudes to Sex Outside Marriage:
1) Jesus taught love was the most important thing. 2) They are only expected to marry before pre-marital sex. 3) Okay in a long-term committed relationship.

Catholic Attitudes to Divorce:
1) Divorce is wrong - Jesus, Mark's gospel. 2) Marriage cannot be dissolved - it is a sacrament. 3) Vows - death do us part. 4) CCC- marriage bond established by God. 5) Annulmet if not aware of marriage meaning. 6) Remarriage considered adultery.

Liberal Attitudes to Divorce:
1) Jesus allowed it for adultery - Matthew 19:9. 2) Lesser of two evils. 3) Better than to live with hatred and conflict. 4) Okay if marriage has broken down. 5) Forgiveness for confessed sins allowed so why not divorce?

Purposes of Marriage:
1) Life-long - relationship that is faithful and long. 2) Life-giving - procreation. 3) Life-fulfilling - unity & support. 4) Life-blessing - God's strength and grace is given.

1) Life long - vows - death do us part. 2) Life blessing - nuptuals. 3) Life giving - do you want kids. 4) Life fulfilling - vows love and cherish.

Catholic Attitudes to Homosexuality:
1) Not discriminated against. 2) Sex for procreation but not possible. 3) CCC 'unnatural act' 4) Sexual activity is sinful - remain celibate. 5) God blessed Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

1) The biggest christian belief is love so we should accept. 2) Made in the image of God. 3) It is modern thinking, not unnatural. 4) Okay - if loving relationship. 5) Love thy neighbour.

1) Children respect parents - 4th commandment + St Paul. 2) Parents treat kids well - St Paul. 3) Children care for parents when old - Jesus + 4th commandment. 4) Provide kids necessities and raise them as Christians.

1) It is a purpose of marriage. 2) Helps Christianity grow as children take the sacraments. 3) Basis of society and the safest place for them to be raised. 4) Helps children learn right from wrong. 5) Given by God.

1) Catholic Schools - teach about faith. 2) Sunday Schools - teach about faith. 3) Communion and Baptism classes - so they continue the sacraments. 4) Youth clubs to meet other catholics and keep them out of trouble.

1) Priest gives advice to couples. 2) Family-friendly services. 3) Support scouts, encouraging community service. 4) Financial help for families who need it.

Different Methods of Contraception:
1) True Contraception - prevents fertilisation through barrier eg condom or pill. 2) Abortive Contraception - kills fertilised egg eg coil or morning after pill.

Catholic Attitudes to Contraception:
1) It goes against God's plan. 2) Sex is for procreation. 3) CCC-'intrinsically evil'. Against artificial forms. 4) Abortive contraception considered new form of abortion.

1) Sex cements marriage bond - not just for procreation. 2) Raises standard of living and education for children as there are fewer. 3) Seen as a gift from medical science from God's sovereignty.

1) Pre-marital sex deemed irresponsible (daughter). 2) Adultery - shows mum is in the wrong. 3) But it explains why a marriage may break down. 4) Family is the most importnat thing as it prevails.
