Dissolved gas
portion of natural gas that is dissolved in liquid phase in the sub - surface. It can be (usually is) physically separated from the liquid when the fluid is produced
1 of 14
Associated gas
also known as the "gas cap" is free gas(not dissolved) and sits on top of, and in contact with crude oil in the reservoir
2 of 14
non associated gas
the liquids that is trapped without a significant amountof crude oil
3 of 14
natural gas liquids
the liquids that can be and are liquified.
4 of 14
sweet gas
contains no sulphur
5 of 14
sour gas
high contents of sulphur
6 of 14
critical point
point at which all three phases exists and indistinguishable
7 of 14
oil reservoirs
if the reservoir temperature T is less than the critical temperature Tc of the reservoir fluid, the reservoir is is classified as an oil reservoir.
8 of 14
gas reservoir
if the reservoir temperature is greater than the Tc of the reservoir, the reservoir is considered a gas reservoir.
9 of 14
bubble point pressure/ temperature
is the temperature/ pressure at which the first bubble of gas comes out of solution
10 of 14
dew-point pressure/ temperature
which first drop of liquid is formed
11 of 14
retrograde gas
if the reservoir temperature lies between temperature Tc and crincondentherm, the reservoir is classified as a retrograde gas condensate reservoir.
12 of 14
Gas solubility
number of standard cu ft of natural gas which will dissolve in one stock tank bbl of oil at a particular pressure and temperature (sf/STB)
13 of 14
Oil formation volume factor, Bo
Bo is defined as the ratio of the volume of oil at the prevailing reservoir temperature and pressure to the volume of oil at standard conditions. Bo = volume of oil at reservoir/ volume of oil at standard conditions
