Metadata is the informarion about an image stored before it so the computer can recreate the image

The metadata must contain the height and width in pixels and the colour depth

What is the colour depth?
The colour depth is the number of bits used for each pixel/dot

What is the resolution?
The resolution is the number of pixels/dots per unit.

Why is the file always slightly bigger than the image?
The file is always slightly bigger because of the metadata stored at the start

How is sound turned into data?
Sound is often continously varying data (analogue) but the computer needs them in digital form as set of binary numbers.
