Historic buildings collapsed. 26 hospitals and 50 percent of schools were destroyed. A reduced supply of water, food and electricity. 352 aftershocks and a second earthquake occurred.

Earthquake triggered avalanches on Mount Everest killing 19 climbers. The tourist industry decreased in Nepal. Because the earthquake happened just before the monsoon season , when rice plants are planted, many of the seeds were destroyed.
