6. under the upper mantle there is a goo like substance called?
- asthenosphere
- lithosphere
- convection
7. in the earths layers, the rock cycle is otherwise known as?
- periodotite
- convection
- lava churn
8. what is the outer and inner core made of?
- periodotite (molten rock and gases)
- basalt and granite
- iron and nickle
- copper and steel
9. Oceanic can sink/be pushed into the mantle?
10. continental makes continents and is made of granite?
11. a destructive plate boundary...
- has two plate moving apart
- has oceanic crust that moves towards continental crust
- involves two plates moving together
12. which is heavier, oceanic crust or continental crust?
13. a collision margin is when...
- plates move together, both continental crust
- plates move apart
- plates rub past eachother
14. constructive is where?
- plates pushed under
- plates move apart
- plates move towards
- plates move against
15. conservative plates..
- move together
- slide past eachother
- hit eachother
16. why is the inner core so hot?
- when the earth was created it hit rocks upon rocks which builds up pressure until it exploded (big bang) the crust cooled but the inside is still hot
- because molten lava is spewing from active volcanoes, it shows its hot inside the earth which is caused by radioactive decay of elements in the core
- because pressure builds up as the world spins
17. why doesn't the inner core melt?
- its under too much pressure and theres no room for it to melt
- too much pressure
- something that is a boiling liquid cannot melt
18. what creates northon lights?
- charged particles hit the earths magnetic field which bounce off creating colours which are the northon lights
- the pressure of the magnetic field sends out rays- northon lights
19. what is the outer core?
- hot molten rock and gas that move in circular motions
- metal liquid that moves around creating a magnetic field around the world which protects us from the suns atems
- its the pressure that pushes down on the inner core to stop it from melting
- protecting of the inner core
20. all volcanoes are found at plate edges?
