What is Erosion?
Erosion occurs when the river has plenty of energy. The strength of the river wears away the bed and banks. Eroded particles scrape along the bed and the banks like sandpaper.

What is Transportation?
When the river has a lot of energy, it transports particles of salt and rock. Large particles get rolled along the river bed. Small particles get carried in the river flow.

What is Deposition?
Rivers lose energy when they flow over flat land or when the load becomes too heavy. When the river loses energy it can no longer erode or tranposrt. Therefore the river drops its load and this is called Deposition.
