Angular Velocity
The rate if change of angle for an object moving in a circular path.
1 of 12
Centripetal Force
A force that keeps a body moving with a constant speed in a circular path.
2 of 12
Centripetal Acceleration
The acceleration of any object in a circular path at constant speed, acts towards centre of circle.
3 of 12
Simple Harmonic Motion
Oscillating motion where acceleration is directly proportional to its displacement (in opposite direction) directed towards a fixed equilibrium point.
4 of 12
Displacement
The distance moved from the equilibrium position.
5 of 12
Amplitude
The maximum displacement from the equilibrium position.
6 of 12
Phase Difference
The difference in displacement bewteen 2 oscillating objects or at different times.
7 of 12
Isochronous Oscillator
An oscillator that has the same period regardless of amplitude.
8 of 12
Damping
An oscillation is damped when an external force that acts on oscillator has an effect of reducing amplitude.
9 of 12
Natural Frequency
The frequency of free oscillation
10 of 12
Driving Frequency
The frequency with which the periodic driver force is applied to a system in forced oscillation.
11 of 12
Resonance
The increase in amplitude of a forced oscillation when the driving frequency matches the natural frequency.
