?
two famous scientists related to creation of life or continental drift
miller urey-experiment, only rational reason for life so far. wegner's reason for volcanoes and earthquakes.
1 of 9
how life was formed(understand and remember miller ureys experiment) and reasons for holes in the experiment!
miller-urey created an experiment to suggest how life was formed on earth, the atmoshpere of hydrogen and nitrogen along with lightning and heat caused amino acids to be formed, in the experiment there is a consistent electricity proving inaccuracy.
2 of 9
how volcanoes and earthquakes are formed from tectonic plates moving.
the plates move because of convection in the mantle, moving the plates over, under, upwards or downwards together causing mountains and other natural crust movements/tremmors, places along the edge of plates are more likely to experience these effects
3 of 9
explain continental drift.why can we not accurately predict natural effects.
continental drift is a prediction of where the plates move to, like gas in the body convection pushes this gas from the mantle, through the Earth's crust and into the atmosphere. predictions are made due to patterns but some times the patter goes off
4 of 9
gasses in the Earth's atmosphere.
gasses in the atmosphere consist of 79%-80% nitrogen, 14%-20% oxygen, 6%-1% carbon/other (only 80-20% of nitrogen to oxygen needed for gcse)
5 of 9
the Earth's early years.
in the early years there was increased volcanic activity the released water vapor (hydrogen and nitric oxide/ oxygen) which condensed to form oceans, carbon di/mon oxide was then absorbed into the oceans and electricity reacted to create amino acids
6 of 9
what did the electricity from lightning react with?
in the young atmosphere there was hydrogen, nitrogen, sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.
7 of 9
what did miller-urey use? compare to what there actually was and the end result
miller used an atmosphere of ammonia, water vapor, hydrogen and methane. dose not give enough evidence of initial life, the atmospheres are slightly different and one is in-closed in a sterile enviroment
8 of 9
if the atmosphere in the early years was with little oxygen and high amounts of carbon dioxide then how was the current atmosphere formed?
plant and algee take in the carbon atoms and use them to grow and reproduce, oxygen is one of the gasses a plant or algee may give off. (dose not include resperation overnight/ when not photosynthesising) carbon was also absorbed into some rocks,
