Define a eukaryote
A multi-cellular organism which has its DNA enclosed in the nucleus
1 of 6
Give 2 differences between a eukaryote and prokaryote
1)A Eukaryote has its genetic material enclosed in a nucleus. 2)A Eukaryotic cell is much bigger
2 of 6
Give 4 features common between a plant and an animal cell and give their functions.
1) Nucleus - Contains genetic material 2) Cell Wall - Semi-permeable membrane that controls what goes in and out of the cell 3) Mitochondria - Release energy from aerobic respiration 4) Ribosomes - Site where proteins are made
3 of 6
Give 3 features that are only in the plant cell and their functions.
1) Permanent vacuole - Contains cell sap, Swells up to make cell turgid 2) Cell Wall - Contains cellulose that strengthens the cell and gives it a regular shape 3) Chloroplasts - Absorb light for photosynthesis
4 of 6
What do prokaryotes have instead of a nucleus
A single loop of DNA and also small rings of DNA called plasmids.
5 of 6
