Cell Division AQA as Biology

A brief revision summary of cell division. Done at 1am when I had a sudden panic that I knew nothing so excuse the lack of questions but I hope it is useful :)

What is the first stage of mitosis?
Prophase

What is the second stage of mitosis?
Metaphase

What is the third stage of mitosis?
Metaphase

What is the first stage of the cell cycle?
G1

What happens in Metaphase?
Centrioles at opposite poles. Chromosomes line up on the equator of the spindle. Centromeres (kinetochores) attach to spindle fibres. Kinetochores consist of microtubules and "motor" proteins which utilise ATP to pull on the spindle.

Where does DNA replication occur within the cell?

how can the 2nd and 3rd phase of mitosis be metaphase?

I think you need to edit this quiz. The first stage of mitosis is interphase and the second is prophase. Other than that it was good. Remember guys, I Poured My Aunties Tea! (IPMAT). Or if you're boring Interphase Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase!

This quiz is really bad because the answers are mostly wrong. LOL how can second stage of interphase be metaphase?????

Anyway needs a lot of editin. Furthermore during metaphase, what you said is correct until u started adding anaphase details such as "which utilise ATP........"etc. What you then began to explain was not metaphase because it is simply line up in the middle and the centrioles create spindle fibers whcih attach to the sister chromatid...

Remeber IPMAT =====>  Idiot Pass Me Another Tequila or any other mehod you like to remember!

The answers are wrong!

1 and 2 are subjective really because its a cycle so interphase could either be considered the first stage of mitosis or the last. I like everyones way of remembering it though, especially the tequila one ^ :')

interphase isnt part of mitosis. its part of the cell cycle. it happens before mitosis.

agreed with all of that
