1 of 5
Mitosis
ensures that when a cell divides each new cell produced has the same genetic information.
(E.g. DNA Cells from a Chromosome Molocule)
2 of 5
Stem Cells
In humans, Stem cells are cells that have not undergone differentiation. They become specialised for different purposes.
In plants it occurs in regions called meristems and can differentiate to produce all types of plant cells at any time
3 of 5
Cloning
Clones will be genetically identical to the original plant providing the meristem cells. Meristematic cells are removed from a plant and are cloned to produce identical plants quickly and economically.
4 of 5
Therapeutic Cloning
Adult stem cell transplants use a patient's own stem cells. They are therefore genetically identical and will not be rejected by the patient's immune system.
