minimum amount of energy needed by the particles to collide successfully

a substance which speeds up a reaction without being changed or used up in the reaction

how does a solid catalyst work
gives the reacting particles a surface to stick to which increases number of successful collisions

advantages of catalysts in industry
allows reaction to work at lower temperature reducing energy reducing energy cost, good for sustainable development, save a lot of money, can use over and over again

expensive to buy, often need to be removed from the product and cleaned
