What are the 2 different ethical theories?
Normative and Descriptive

They prescribe the morally correct way of acting (they judge)

This is basic assumption- human beings are self interested by nature (me first)

It is the belief created by Jeremy Bentham that all individuals should be useful (maximising the utility of the community)

1.Your motive should be to do the right thing for the good reason 2.Only things done for the sake of moral law have moral worth

categorical imperative- (treat people the way you would want to be treated) We must all be treated as end not a means
