Benedict's test - add benedict's solution and heat, if a reducing sugar is present the solution will turn brick red.

Starch
Iodine test - add iodine dissolved in potassium iodine solution to the sample. If starch is present it will turn from brown-orange to a dark blue-black colour.

Non-reducing sugars
Benedict's test again - new sample of test solution boiled with dilute hydrochlolic acid. Neutralise by adding sodium hydrocarbonate, then carry out Benedict's test for reducing suagrs.

Proteins
Biuret test - add a few drops of sodium hydroxide solution to make solution alkaline, then add copper sulphate solution. If protein is present, the solution will turn purple, if not, it will stay blue.

Lipids
Eulsion test - shake the test substance with ethanol for minute then pour into water. Lipids will show up as milky emulsion.
