biology - antibodies

?
What are monoclonal antibodies?
They are antibodies that carry useful chemical markers or treatments.
1 of 6
Why are a set of monoclonal antibodies identical?
Because they are produced in large quantities from the same hybridoma cells.
2 of 6
What can monoclonal antibodies be used for?
1.) pregancy tests, detects the pregnacy hormone in the urine. 2.) stick to blood clots or cancer cells so they can be detected and treated.
3 of 6
State an example of an advantage and disadvantage with using a B-lymphocyte from a mouse;
ADV- makes particular antibodies continuosly DISADV - they dont divide
4 of 6
State an example of an advantage and disadvantage of using a cancer cell;
ADV - Divides continously DISADV - dosnt make antibodies
5 of 6
How do you make a hybridoma?
Fuse a B-lymphocyte with a cancer cell, making the hybridoma able to divide and make antibodies.
