What are the three major types of blood vessels
Arteries, Veins and Capillaries
1 of 5
What do arteries do?
Carry the blood away from the heart to body cells
2 of 5
Veins
1)They carry blood back to the heart. 2) The blood is at lower pressure in the veins therefore the walls aren't as thick. 3) they have a bigger lumen than arteries to help blood flow more easily. 4)Finally they have valves
3 of 5
capillaries
They are branches of arteries that are extremely small. They carry blood really close to every cell in the body and supply them with nutrients and oxygen and take away wastes such as CO2. this can happen as there walls are only once cell thick.
4 of 5
