Biodiversity
"The variety of genes, species and ecosystems that can be found within an area"
1 of 25
Biosphere
"The thin veneer of living material on the planets surface"
2 of 25
Biome
"An ecosystem that is on a global scale"
3 of 25
Biomass
"The total weight of all dry living material per unit area"
4 of 25
Generic Diversity
"The range of genes that can be found within species" - For example the Cheetah is generically weak as they have very little diversity due to a disease.
5 of 25
Species Diversity
"The variety of living organisms, such as plants and animals, that are present within an ecosystem"
6 of 25
Ecosystem Diversity
"The number of different ecosystems that can be found within a certain geographical area"
7 of 25
Endemic Species
"Species that are specific to one location" - This will usually be an island as they are isolated from other locations
8 of 25
Hotspot
"An area with a significant amount of biodiversity that is under threat from humans"
9 of 25
GPP
"Gross Primary Production (GPP) is the total amount of carbon up taken by the plants in an ecosystem."
10 of 25
NPP
"Net Primary Production (NPP) is the total amount of carbon stored by the plants of an ecosystem."
11 of 25
Abiotic
"Is a living creature"
12 of 25
Biotic
"Is a non-living creature"
13 of 25
Photosynthesis
"The process through which plants use light and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen"
14 of 25
Decomposition
"The degradation of a dead organism into the ground"
15 of 25
Energy Flow
"The flow of energy from one store to another"
16 of 25
Food Web
"This is a diagram that shows the order in which living creatures eat one another"
17 of 25
Autotroph
"Is a self-feeder they can feed themselves through the process of photosynthesis"
18 of 25
Heterotroph
"Is an other-feeder they require the consumption of something else to feed themselves"
19 of 25
Trophic Levels
"The different levels that go from producers up to consumer"
20 of 25
Producer
"Produces the nutrients required for other animals"
21 of 25
Consumers
"Creatures that consume others for the nutrients needed to live"
22 of 25
Litter
"This is the dead organisms that have fallen to the environments floor to be decomposed"
23 of 25
Leaching
"When water causes the loss of nutrients in the soil"

Report

5 is wrong, it is biotic not Abiotic. Abiotic is for physical like Rocks or Water, Biotic is for living organisms.
