What do the lungs contain?
The exchange surface of the breathing system.

Where are the lungs situated?
In the thorax, inside the ribcage and above the diaphram.

What does the diaphram seperate the lungs from?
The abdomen.

Stages to breathing in: (6)
Intercostal muscles contract, ribs move up and out, diaphragm contracts and flattens, volume of chest increases, pressure in chest decreases and air is drawn in.

Stages to breathing out: (6)
Intercostal muscles relax, ribs move down and in, diaphragm relaxes and moves up, volume of chest decreases, pressure inside the chest increases and air is forced out the lungs.

What is the movemnt in and out of the lungs called?
Ventilation.
