Define Hunger
A feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by a lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat.

Define Satiation (intra-meal)
Processes during ingestion to reduce the drive to eat and promote the termination of the eating episodes. It controls the meal termination, duration and size. It is influenced by the rapid signalling from taste, stomach, upper intestine.

Define Satiety (inter-meal)
Postprandial events following eating episode that inhibit hunger drive and further eating. Controls the time between and frequency of meals. Influenced by metabolic signals, gastric distension and sensory input.
