what are
e
Erthrocytes?
Red blood cells
They circulate oxygen through the body and remove carbon dioxide

White blood cells
All types are involved in body defenses produces antibodies

what are lipoproteins
A combination of fat and protein that transports lipids (fats) in the blood.
7 of 32
what is Haeomoglobin?
The protein molecule in red blood cells that carriesoxygen from the lungs to the bodys tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs.
8 of 32
what is oxyhaeomoglobin?
The oxygen loaded form of haemoglobin, the predominant protein in ed blood cells.
9 of 32
what are hormones?
A chemical substance produced in the body that controls and regulates the activity of certain cells and organs.
10 of 32
What is Endothermic?
A chemical reaction that is accompanied by the absorption of heat , or an organism that generates heat to maintain its temperature.
11 of 32
what are enzymes?
Proteins that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction in a living organism.
12 of 32
what is immune response
The body's response caused by its immune system being activated by antigens
13 of 32
what are pathogens?
a bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease.
14 of 32
what are antigens?
A toxin or other foreign substance which induces an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies
15 of 32
what are antibodies?
Substances which a persons or an animals body produces in their blood in order to destroy substances which carry disease.
16 of 32
what is a virus
A parasite which can infect living organisms and cause disease.
17 of 32
what is coagulation?
The action or process of a liquid , especially blood changing to a solid or semi-solid state.
18 of 32
what is fibrin?
A protein formed from Fibrinogen during the clotting of blood.
19 of 32
what is a double circulatory system
This means we have two loops in our body in which blood circulates.
20 of 32
what is myogenic?
Describes muscle tissue (heart muscle) that generates its own contractions.
21 of 32
what is a pacemaker?
A device that delivers electrical impulses to the heart to regulate the heartbeat
22 of 32
what is the atria?
upper chambers of the heart thgat recieves blood from the veins and forces in into a ventrido or ventricles
23 of 32
what are ventricles?
Lower chambers of the heart
24 of 32
what is tricuspid valve?
One of the four heart valves, the first one that blood encounters as it enters the heart.
25 of 32
where is the bicuspid valve?
between left atrium and left ventricle
26 of 32
what is the superior vena cava?
receives blood from the head and arms and chest and empties into the right atrium of the heart
27 of 32
what is the inferior vena cava
carries blood from lower regions of the body to right atrium
28 of 32
what is the pulmomary artery?
Carries deoxygentated blood from the heart to the lungs
29 of 32
what is the semi-lunar valve?
A valve in the heart linking the ventricles to the aorta and pulmonary artery
consisting of three cusps or flaps that prevent the flow of blood back into the heart.
30 of 32
what do pulmonary veins do?
Deliver oxygen rich blood from the lungs to the left atrium
31 of 32
what is the aorta?
The large arterial trunk that carries blood from the heart to be distributed by branch arteries through the body.
