What is a world city?  What distinguishes world cities from mega cities is their global importance. Mega Cities can be the home to important figures and large TNC's but often these only have a importance on a national or regional scale.  World cities go beyond this.  World cities can impact people on a global scale and are the command and control centres of the international economy. The top 3 ranked world cities are London, New York and Tokyo.
