Nazi Idealogy towards women

Women were supposed to be the future mothers of a pure Aryan race. Their task was to populate the new German empire.

Women were encouraged to stay at home and have babies. In the early years, this also had the advantage of reducing unemployment.

What policies were introduced relating to women?

  • Marriage loans were offered to encourage women to stay at home.
  • Medals were offered to those who produced most babies (8 babies got you a gold medal!)
  • Propaganda - glorified the traditional role of women, who were supposed to be good home-makers, dress traditionally and look after their husbands.
