The strength of Americas economy in the 1920’s came to a sudden end in October 1929 – even if the signs of problems had existed before the Wall Street Crash. Germany was forced by the Treaty Of Versailles to pay reparations of the sum of £6,600 million. The USA loaned them money, just as they had to Britain and France during WWI,
