What is specific heat capacity
Specific heat capacity is a measure of how much energy (thermal) a substance can store.
What does a higher specific heat capacity means for the substance
A higher specific heat capacity means that the substance can store more heat energy however the substance requires more energy to heat up.
1. The design of storage heaters
Storage heaters use substances (materials) that have a high specific heat capacity to store a lot of heat energy.
2. Water storage heaters
Water has a really high specific capacity (4200j/kg degrees celsius). It can store alot of heat energy. Water is also a liquid which means it can easily bump through heaters. Water is therefore ideal for central heating systems…
