The periodic table

Metals and non metals are on opposite sides of the periodic table.

The periodic table is arranged in periods and groups:

They are the rows of the periodic table,
The elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number along each row. E.g. the atomic number of the period 2 elements, increase from 3 for Li to 10 for Ne.
