LOOKING INTO SPACE

- The Earth rotates WEST-EAST once every 24 HOURS. 

- Stars appear to move EAST-WEST across the sky every 23 HOURS 56    MINUTES. 

- The Sun, planet and moon also appear to move EAST-WEST across the sky. 

- The sun  appears to do the above once every 24 HOURS.

THE EARTH AND THE SUN 

- A SIDEREAL DAY is the time it takes the Earth to rotate 360 degrees on it's axis. This is four minutes shorter than a solar day, 23 HOURS 56 MINUTES.

- A SOLAR DAY is the time
