The first dance in the film,

• Jets clicking

• Unison walking, solo movements

• Unison elevated section

• Bernado interrupts, punches wall

• 2 Sharks walk and click

• Jets steal a lemon, Sharks get it back

• Sharks call Jet “Jet Boy”

• Jets chase Sharks away

• “Beat it”

• Basketball court, 5 jets and lots of sharks

  “Beat it”

• A jet and a Shark have fight using physical theatre, pretend kick etc.

• Jets and Sharks chase each other

• Sharks individually entice Jets to large groups of sharks

• “Sharks stink”

• Unison shows the power of numbers in gang culture

  Set on a basketball court as it’s the Jets’ turf

  Ball is used for rhythm in dance

  Use spray to claim turf, graffiti their gang name

  Spatially travelling

  All male cast in this dance

  Sharks wear darker…
