Structure of the atmosphere Geography

The atmosphere is a mixture of Transparent gases held by the earths gravity. 78% is nitrogen, 20% oxygen c02, water vapour etc make up the rest.

Troposphere is where the weather happens in a low atmospheric zone 16-17km from the earths surface.

Temperature decreases with altitude in the troposhere zone, extending up to 17km from earths surface.

Stratosphere sits on top ad is 50km in height, here temperatures do not decrease with height.

Mesosphere, layer of atmosphere above stratosphere, 80km above earths suface

Thermosphere 100km above surface where temperatures fall with height.
