Structual Functionalism

see education as contributing to the smooth funtioning of society, but not as contributing to inequality but rather as seeing the positive function of the overall society, this makes them similar to functionalism. however, they are different to functionalists because they take into account the social back ground of the individual. They argue the education system trains the most qualified for the most socially important roles.

Working class parents may lack the money to provide their children with the same opportunities than middle class parents. More money means that parents can provide their children with more educational toys, books, a better diet and private tutition.
