Schaffer and Emerson (1964) studied 60 babies in Glasgow. They visited monthly for year 1 and returning at 18 months. Methods included observations and interviewing.

Most infants showed seperation protest and stranger anxiety at around 7 months. At 7 months, nearly 1/3 of babies had multiple attachments. At 18
