Purposes of marriage in Christianity
- Companionship

Cohabitation
Benefits:
- Get to know each other before marriage
- Separate without the difficulty of divorce
- Children can still be brought up
- No need for marriage to demonstrate love
Problems:
- Encourages a casual attitude

Liberal Christians belive sex before marriage is okay as long as the couple love each other and are in a long term relationship

Catholics believe homosexuality is not a sin but homosexual relationships are. Homophobia is condemned
Evangelical Christians believe homosexuality is a sin
Liberal Christians believe homosexual relationships are acceptable. Ministers may be gay but cannot have homosexual sex

Christians are expected not to be homosexual and not commit adultery. If they commit these acts they will not go to heaven. 'the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God'
