The Race Relations Act 1976

This act makes racial discrimination illegal in public life.

It states that people can take action if they feel they have been discriminated against because of their race in situations involving employment, housing, education, and provisions of goods and services.

The act describes discrimination as treating a person less favourably because of their race, colour, ethnicity and national origin.
