• There were 45 student participants in the study.
• There were 7 film clips of different traffic accidents.
• They were asked to give an account of the film which they have just seen.
• The critical question which they were asked was 'About how fast were the cars going when they ........ each other'.
• The word used in the blank space varied from group to group.
• In total there was 5 groups with 9 participants in each.
